Melton Mowbray Sloe Gin has a distinctive warm and fruity flavour to compliment any occasion. Great as an after dinner accompaniment to cheese, it can also be mixed with tonic and ice or lemonade to make a refreshing summer quencher.

 

Melton Mowbray Sloe Gin was launched by Rachel Birch in October 2004, motivated by a desire to be her own boss, while at the same time giving people a taste of what the countryside had to offer. The tradition of making Sloe Gin had been passed on through generations of Rachel's family.

From the end of September through to November Rachel rallied her family members to help with the Sloe picking on the family farm and local hedgerows. Today, fruit is still picked from these very same hedgerows from where fruit went into the first bottle of Melton Mowbray Sloe Gin.

Building on the success of Melton Mowbray Sloe Gin, two more products were launched, Vodka & Blackberry and Whisky & Wild Damsons.

At the end of 2010, Rachel made the decision to pursue other interests, and as a consequence sold the business. The business was bought by Andy Hoyle, who following redundancy decided to try the self-employed life. Rachel's products continue to be produced, and building on the solid foundations created by Rachel, new products will be produced.
